Starting today, the LichtFeld Gallery is open for beta testing to everyone with a Supporter or Sponsor account.
In Session 3, we showed you the biggest change LichtFeld Studio has seen so far: a gallery where you can publish a splat straight from the desktop app, open it in the browser, and share it with a link. It is live now. If you are on the User level, hang on a little longer: we are opening access in stages so we can watch how everything behaves under real load. Your turn is next.
What you get today
Every gallery starts with 300 MB of free storage and shows you exactly how much space is left. A full-resolution PLY file is often 200 to 250 MB and more, while a compressed scene is a fraction of that size. Choose SOG, SSOG, or SPZ in LichtFeld Studio when you publish to make the most of your storage. Our web viewer is also the only one that renders 3DGUT-trained splats.
There will be paid tiers for people who need more storage or business features. Some features will be exclusive to Pro, such as removing the LichtFeld branding from the viewer or creating a personal gallery under your own name. The free 300 MB stays free.
Your galleries are private. Nothing you upload is listed anywhere. When you want to show a scene, create a link. You can set it to expire after an hour, a day, a week, or a month, or to never expire. You can revoke it at any time. Anyone with the link can view the scene in a browser without an account. A public gallery, where you choose to publish a scene for everyone to find, is next on the list.
Use the latest nightly
The gallery talks to LichtFeld Studio directly: sign in from the app, choose a project, and publish. The stable 0.5.3 release does not support the gallery yet, so please use the latest nightly build from the portal. The nightlies also include the cleaner colours and sharper backgrounds we showed in Session 3.
A short tutorial video covering the whole process, from training to a shared link, will follow in the coming days.
Your splat stays yours
We wrote the gallery terms the way we would want them as users. What you upload is your work and your data. We do not claim any ownership of your scenes, and you can download or delete everything whenever you want. That is the whole idea: share your work without giving it away. The final gallery terms go live when the beta ends.
This is a beta
Things will break, and that is the point of opening early. When something goes wrong, use Report a problem in the portal, tell us on Discord, or email [email protected]. Include the scene link if you can. What you report in the coming weeks will shape the bigger 0.6 release, where the gallery and the desktop app come together in one workflow, from images to a shared scene.
