Hi everyone,
LichtFeld Studio 0.5.4 is finally out.
The last weeks were intense. I really wanted to get this version out of the door, and that meant fixing bugs late into the night instead of answering messages. If you opened an issue or wrote me a mail and are still waiting for an answer, I have not forgotten you. I will get to it.
This one is big: 1,222 commits from 26 contributors over several months. These are the parts I am most happy about.
Projects. LichtFeld Studio now has its own project format, .licht. One file keeps your dataset, checkpoints, trained model, edits, camera paths and layout together, so you can close the app and pick up exactly where you stopped. The new project manager lets you find, preview and organise all your projects. You can even embed your dataset in the .licht file and share it.
The gallery. You can publish a splat straight from LichtFeld Studio to the online gallery and share it with a link. Nobody needs LichtFeld installed to look at it, and you decide what stays private and what you share publicly. The gallery is in beta, and every user gets 300 MB of storage. Soon you will be able to buy more. We will also add pro features, such as a customisable private gallery that you can share with clients and customers. Please try it and tell me what you would change or add.
Speed. Training is up to three times faster than in 0.5.3 and needs less VRAM, both while training and in the viewer.
Normals. Training can now use normal priors, and LichtFeld creates them for you when they are missing. They help with surfaces that are hard to get right from colour alone.
Everything else is in the release post.
Show me what you reconstruct
I would love for you to try the gallery connection. Connect LichtFeld Studio to the portal, pick a project and upload it directly from the app. Then share the link: in our Discord, on social media, or just with a friend.
I am honestly curious what all of you are reconstructing. If something breaks or feels wrong, please tell me.

Getting 0.5.4
As a supporter you can download the Windows build here on the portal. LichtFeld Studio stays free and open source under GPLv3, so you can also build it from source.
Thank you
None of this would happen without you. Thank you for supporting the project, and for every bug report, every dataset and every pull request. A special thanks to Core11, Volinga and our new hardware sponsor Tersus GNSS, who sent us an MVP S1 scanner. We will support it directly in LichtFeld Studio in the future.
Next up is 0.5.5. The plan is to bring structure from motion (SfM) into LichtFeld Studio, so you can go from a video or a set of photos to a finished, shared scene without leaving the app.
